Ekofilm is the oldest international film and video display about the natural environment in Europe. For the first time it took place in the town of Ostrava in 1974. During the age of communism the Ecofilm was a unique opportunity to learn the truth about the natural environment condition and to participate at frenetic discussions where the bad condition was very seriously criticized. In 1997 the Ecofilm moved to the town of Český Krumlov which is on the list of UNESCO protected historical monuments and it takes place for the seventh time in the beautiful setting of the castle. The festival conception has changed too. Contemporary Ecofilm is not only the display of films and videos about the natural environment, but the theme has been extended to cultural and natural heritage including the national monuments protection. The festival includes a line of forums, seminars and interesting social meetings.

Estamira who is 63 years old suffers from schizophrenia. She has spent all her time on a large dump near Rio de Janeiro for 20 years. This impressive portrayal of a fascinating person has won awards on several festivals, for example on this year´s International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary for the best document. The guests of the evening will be Maria Santos from Brasil and Steve Lichtag.

Projection and other festival programs are assigned for public. ADMISSION FREE.
The program changes are possible.
On 7th and 8th October the festival visitors can use ECOBUS in the destination from Prague through České Budějovice to Český Krumlov and back.
The admission with acreditation - the accreditation number is limited by the capacity of individual halls.
