Svítání Band - Original Czech Music – a sonic mixture of cymbals, cello, guitars, accordion and rich five-part vocals – blended together in colourful combinations

Taliesyn Band – a distinctive essence of world music, folk music, Celtic music and jazz based around the rich tradition of Anglo-American folk as well as Czech and Moravian traditional songs. The listeners will be captivated by strong melodies and songs accompanied by a number of interesting musical instruments.

HISTORICAL TOWN CENTER
Various streets and corners of the historical town center of Český Krumlov will be lit up by dancing performed by the International Folk Music Festival participants.
Performances will take place in front of the “Belevue - U Města Vídně” Hotel, on the IInd Castle Courtyard, on the “Ostrov” Island, in Široká Street, in the Hotel “Růže” atrium and in front of the Café Veneti in Hradební Street.
Organized by the House of Children and Youth Český Krumlov and the Folk Music Group Růže Český Krumlov.

This Festival is held under the auspices of Senator Mr. Tomáš Jirsa, Governor of the South Bohemian Region Mr. Jan Zahradník and the chief health officer of the Czech Republic Mr. Michael Vít.
Organized by the House of Children and Youth Český Krumlov and the Folk Music Group Růže Český Krumlov.

BUFO Dance Theatre (the future of folklore) – Letí smetí (“Flying Dust”) - a selection of the best scenes performed by the most original domestic amateur dance ensemble

Artistic Happening by Karel Dvořák – local Český Krumlov artist, musician and a Jack-of-all-trades personality will create another part of the St. Wenceslas statue (in the last years, he has already created the St. Wenceslas spear, flag and a helmet). This year, he will add the horse harness to the statue.

IYASA (Inkululeko Yabatsha School of Arts, Zimbabwe, Africa) – Spirit of Africa – a captivating performance filled with songs, dances, rhythm and scenes inspired by the African folklore. Prepare to be thrilled by this exciting ensemble.

To remember the 110th anniversary of George Gershwin´s birth, his music will be played during the concert. Also, the new book by Jan Vaněček called “White Memories” will be christened. This book has been published under the auspices of the vice-governor of the South Bohemian Region Mr. Robin Schinko. Both the programme and the book publication are also supported by the municipal grant of Český Krumlov.

SOUTH BOHEMIAN SPARROW 2008

SOUTH BOHEMIAN SPARROW 2008 – 12 performers will present themselves to the public during the 3rd semifinal of this South Bohemian singing competition. The viewers will vote on the finalists. The rich programme will present among others the TS Storm Dancers Band form Český Krumlov, ABBA Rocks Revival, Martin Korčák, Pavel Steffal and others. The jury will be composed out of the Vice-Mayor Mrs. Jitka Zikmundová, Alena Brožová, Zdeňka Litvanová, Pavel Steffal and other well-know local personalities. The Band Good Company will accompany the performers. Narrated by Mr. Míra Valha. Organized under the auspices of the South Bohemian Region governor Mr. Jan Zahradní and the Vice-Mayor of Český Krumlov Mrs. Jitka Zikmundová by Petr A. Jirotka.

Viewing of authentic marionettes from the Theatrical Department of the National and Náprstkovo Museums, concluded by the performances of the Mimotaurus Theatre.

Performances begin at 10, 11 and 12 a.m. Maximum capacity per performance is 35 children, and therefore advance seat reservation in the Museum ticket office is mandatory. Length of the performance is 35 minutes. It is also possible to view the Museum without the performance.
Free entry for children and one accompanying person above 18 years of age.

GRAPHITE MINE UNDERGROUND VIEWING

Viewing of the graphite mine from a mine train, accompanied by experienced guides. Included in the tour is lending of miners´gear including shoes and protective head covers.
