TRANSPORT

1) a) How do I get to/from Prague?

There are both buses and trains operating between Český Krumlov and Prague. The bus journey last for about 3 hours and there are about 10 regular lines operating daily on this route. Prague-bound buses leave from the Bus station and from the Špičák bus stop. Train journey lasts approximately 4 hours. There are a few direct connections and mostly you need to change trains in České Budějovice. The train station is located 20 minutes walking distance away from the town center. If you have heavy luggage, we recommend taking a taxi to the train station. For more information, please view www.idos.cz

b) How do I get to/from České Budějovice?

There are both buses and trains operating between Český Krumlov and České Budějovice. The bus journey is faster and takes 30 to 60 minutes. Buses for České Budějovice leave from the Bus station and from the Špičák bus stop.
Trains to České Budějovice are less frequent than buses and train journey lasts about 1 hour. The train station is located 20 minutes walking distance away from the town center. If you have heavy luggage, we recommend taking a taxi to the train station.

c) How do I get to/from Linz?

Traveling by a shuttle bus is by far the fastest and easiest way to get to/from Linz. Shuttle buses leave for Linz twice a day and the journey lasts for about 90 minutes. For more information on shuttle buses please inquire at the Infocenter.
Another option is to travel by bus or train to České Budějovice and there change for a train to Linz. There are several direct or indirect (change trains in Summerau) train lines to Linz daily. The direct train journey takes 2 to 3 hours and the indirect one 3 to 4 hours.

d) How do I get to/from Vienna?

Traveling by a shuttle bus is by far the fastest and easiest way to get to/from Vienna. The journey to Vienna lasts for about 3 hours. For more information on shuttle buses please inquire at the Infocenter.
Another option is to travel by bus or train to České Budějovice and there change for a train to Vienna. The train journey takes about 3.5 hours.

2) Are there any regular shuttle buses from Český Krumlov? How much do they cost? Which destinations they cover?

There are shuttle buses operating daily from Český Krumlov to Linz, Vienna, Salzburg and Hallstatt. One-way trip to Linz costs about 300 CZK and one-way to Vienna, Salzburg or Hallstatt costs 980 CZK. Prices may vary according to individual operators. Shuttle buses will collect you in your hotel or guesthouse.

3) When and where can I buy a train or bus ticket?

You can buy a bus ticket in the bus directly with the driver. However, for long distance bus lines (for example to Prague), we recommend buying your ticket and a seat reservation in advance in the Infocenter (Svornosti square) or in one of the other sales points.
A train ticket may only be purchased at the train station or directly in the train.

4) Can I drive with my car into the town center? Where does the pedestrian-only zone begin?

The pedestrian-only zone in the historical center of Český Krumlov restricts the entry and parking of motorized vehicles. Only vehicles with the Town Council permit may enter this zone. Permit is issued by the Municipal Police (Svornosti square). The historical center (pedestrian-only zone) begins at the Municipal Theatre (Horní street), at the Main Post Office (Latrán) and at the Municipal Courthouse (Linecká steet). 5) Where can I park my car for short and long term?

The historical town center of Český Krumlov is a pedestrian-only zone where entry and parking of motorized vehicles is restricted only to cars with a permit issued by the Town Council. Permit is issued by the Municipal Police (Svornosti square). Adjacent to the town center however there are about 680 parking spaces for cars (parking lots P1 to P4) and 40 parking places for buses (parking lot P-BUS). Parking lots P1 to P4 are also suitable for long term parking. There is a navigation system located throughout the town showing you the access to parking lots and number of available places at each of them. You can view the location of these parking lots in the following map.

6) Where can I park my camper?

The best parking spots for camper vans in Český Krumlov are the parking lots P2 and P-BUS (Chvalšinská street). In the high season we recommend using the P-BUS parking lot. There is a navigation system located throughout the town showing you the access to parking lots and number of available places at each of them. You can also park your camper near Český Krumlov in one of the camping sites. In some of them you will find specialized services for camper vans (maintenance, electricity etc.).

CULTURE

1) What are the current cultural affairs in Český Krumlov?

2) How do I reserve tickets for events and where do I collect them?

You can reserve tickets via the Internet at http://www.ckrumlov.cz/tickets/or via e-mail or directly at the Infocenter. You will always receive information where and how you can collect your tickets.
When making an Internet ticket reservation you will receive a confirmation e-mail informing you of the successful reservation where you will also find information about collection points and validity of the reservation. Please pay maximum attention to this information. After the expiration date of your reservation it is not possible to demand your tickets. Your tickets will be mostly available for collection at the information centers: at the Infocenter, at the Castle information center UNIOS or at the cash desk before the event.

3) What are the terms for ticket refund?

Terms for ticket refund vary dependant on the organizers of the particular event. The terms are mostly clearly stated on the ticket. In case of event cancellation you need to ask for a refund at the place of the ticket purchase.

4) What if there is rain during an open-air performance? Under what conditions is the event cancelled?

The issue of rain is addressed differently by each event organizer. Individual rules apply and they will always be communicated to you during the ticket purchase. Rain during open-air performance is usually addressed by one of the following ways: postponement of the event for another time, moving the event to a covered area or cancellation.

5) When is the State Castle and Chateau Český Krumlov open?

The State Castle and Chateau Český Krumlov is open from 1 April to 30 October every day except Monday. The Castle can be viewed through one of two basic viewing tours. In addition, you can also visit the Castle Tower, the gardens, Castle Theatre, Castle Lapidary and Wenceslas cellars. For the price lists, opening hours and contact information please view here.

CESKY KRUMLOV CARD

1) Am I supposed to pay other extra fees once I have purchased the Cesky Krumlov Card?

No, there are no extra fees. The price you have paid is final.

2) Is guided tour of the castle included in the card?

No, guided tours of the castle are not included. Speaking about the "castle", the card entitles you to see the castle museum and tower.

3) How do I use the card? Do I simply show it at the entrance?

Yes, you are expected to show the purchased card at the entrance or at the cash desk. The card is penetrated by punching tongs.

ACCOMMODATION

1) How can I reserve accommodation fast?

The fastest reservation can be made through an on-line reservation with current offer of available accommodation. You can also use a last minute offer and also rooms available. Alternatively, you can also visit the Infocenter where our assistants can help you find and reserve suitable accommodation.

2) Are the prices stated on the website final or are there any surcharges?

The Accommodation Catalogue gives final prices. It is however always necessary to carefully read the entire description, as some additional services may carry extra charges. These services usually include: parking, board, fees for stay of animals, local fees.

3) Can I change my accommodation reservation and if so, how?

It is possible to change your reservation. Please inform the travel agency or travel group who made the reservation for you and they will contact the accommodation provider with your request. If you have already received contact details of your accommodation provider with your reservation confirmation, you may contact him directly. It is always necessary to inform the intermediary (travel agency) as well.

4) What if I am not happy with the accommodation services?

In case you are not satisfied with any of the services, please try addressing the issue at first directly with the accommodation provider. If the issue remains unresolved, please refer to the Infocenter who can find you an alternative accommodation.

5) What types of accommodation and at which prices are available in Český Krumlov?

Český Krumlov offers a wide range of accommodation capacities from high-standard hotels to private accommodation and camping. For a wide selection of accommodation options refer to the Catalogue.
Accommodation prices:
- starting from 300 CZK per person for 1 night: hostel or private accommodation
- starting from 550 CZK per person for 1 night: family guesthouses or budget hotels
- starting from 1500 CZK per person for 1 night: high-standard hotels

BOARDING

1) Is it necessary to make a reservation for a group or for individuals at a restaurant?

Many restaurants are very busy during the high season and so we recommend making an advance reservation for both groups and individuals. You can find a list of restaurants in the Board Catalogue.

2) What are the local culinary specialties? Where can I taste them?

Each restaurant offers something special. For a nice environment and Czech specials you can for example visit Šatlava tavern, Maštal restaurant, U Dwau Maryí tavern, Na louži pub, Eggenberg brewery restaurant. There are many others though - please refer to the Board Catalogue.

3) Where can I find some fast food establishments or some other special restaurant types?

In the town center there are several fast food places offering fare such as hamburgers, hot dogs etc.
Apart from restaurants offering traditional Czech cuisine you can also visit restaurants offering Mexican, Chinese, Italian of Spanish specialties.

4) What are the usual opening hours of restaurants and bars?

Cafés and patisseries open between 9 and 10 am and restaurants usually around 11 am. Bars open mostly around 7 pm and are open till 3 am, or sometimes even later.

OTHER SERVICES

1) Where are toilets located? How much do they cost and what are the hours of operation?

Toilets are located in the town center (Horní street, 1st and 4th Castle courtyard) and also at parking lots (P1, P2 and P3), at the bus station and the Špičák bus stop. Wheelchair-access toilets are available in Horní street, on the 4th Castle courtyard and ath the P1 to P3 parking lots. For handicapped persons the toilet use is free of charge with a eurokey available from the Infocenter (against a refundable deposit of 500 CZK). For other visitors the fee for toilet use is 5 CZK. Most toilets are equipped with money changing machines so you can change banknotes into counts or change Euro to Czech crowns. Toilets located in the Horní street and at the parking lots P1 and P3 are open from 7 am to 7 pm daily, toilets at the parking lot P2 are open only from April till November. Other toilets have individual opening hours, usually from 9 am to 6 pm.1

2) Do the shops and restaurants accept Euro or do I have to pay in Czech crowns?

It is up to each owner's decision whether to accept Euro or not. Most shops and restaurants in the town center do accept Euro; however please remember that the exchange rate during such a transaction may not be the same as the official exchange rate in the banks. It may therefore be a better option to change Euro to Czech crowns in an exchange bureau and prevent possible misunderstanding.

4) Where are official exchange bureaus located? Where can I change money favorably?

There are several exchange bureaus and banks located directly in the town center where you can change money. It is always recommended to check the actual exchange rate and the service fees in advance. A list of current exchange rates must be visibly posted in all exchange locations.

5) What are the opening hours of shops, banks, museums, galleries, etc.? Especially on weekends and holidays?

Most restaurants, shops and tourist sites (museums, galleries, etc.) are in tourist season (April-October) open every day.
Out of season, some sites and shops have limited opening hours and therefore we recommend checking opening hours in advance at Infocentrum tourist office. Offices, banks and state offices are open on weekdays only, but closed on weekends and holidays.

7) How can I participate in the costumed parades during the Five-petalled Rose Festival?

If you wish to participate in the Five-petalled Rose Festival parades, please contact the organizer directly at the Municipal Theater (http://www.divadlo.ckrumlov.cz/docs/en/mdck.xml) You need to do that at least one month before the event is held.

8) Is it possible to attend church services in Cesky Krumlov ?

Catholic Church
Services in St.Vitus church: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays - 17:00 Tuesday - no service, Fridays - 18:00, Sundays - 09:30.

Choir of the Church of the Brethren, Ceske Budejovice:
Services are held in the chapel at Urbinská Street No. 187 every Sunday at 9:00.

The College of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Cesky Krumlov:
Services are held in the chapel at Urbinská Street No. 187 every Saturday at 9:30 am.

Choir of the Church of Czech Brethren Evangelical Ceske Budejovice:
